A new year,a new start at the things i wanna do!

I always like when a new year comes around . I like to plan and dream of things we'll do as a family, or things i'd like to do differantly like going on a walk at least a few times a week, drinking lots of water and eating more nutritious food, or having a meaningful quiet time squeezed in sometime during the time i rush out the door in the morning, stop at the store and do my thing there then come home, get my Ellie off to bed for naptime ,rush around doing loads of laundry and rush back to school, pick up school kids and then home for more food to be prepared and devoured, clean up and then its bedtime! Long sentence, but that has been my life for the past 3 years and did i get my quiet time in there? NOOOOO So that is a huge need in my life right now.
I have rooms I'd like to redo and sort out all the unused stuff and the outgrown clothes and ORGANIZE my life a little! I'd like to do some freezer meals so I'm not scrambling at suppertime to get something other than breakfast food on! ( even tho we love breakfast any time of the day) I'd like to socialize more with friends and have company over more and take more time to go outside in the sun and just sit. . . no books, no snacks, no looking around and seeing all the work this place needs yet that I'm itching to get to! Just laying in my lush green grass (that i don't have) and thinking about all the blessings that i have and how my life has been good and how many people do not have half of what i have. . .
There, thats my wish list. Oh yes I do want to blog more. My life isnt exciting like some and i'm not a gourmet cook that shares recipes but i do enjoy it, if for nothing else than it be a diary of sorts.
So here we are . . . . the parents of a teenage driver and i have to say he has made me proud in how careful he is! But the nicest thing has been for him to be able to take the girls to school and do some running for me . . A huge help! We just bought a third vehicle, so now Ellie and I can come and go as we please! But there has been some changes at the store until spring. . We are short staffed at the store so yours truly is filling in 4 days a week, no small task on this moms part! Its the best part of the year for it to happen 'cause were slow in January and February anyway, so Ellie goes with me ,Norv has her part of the day when it gets busy over lunch time and puts her down for a nap,so far its been working! But that means big time help around the house from everybody and they have been so good at that, clothes washing and meals and they do the dishes! I have to say its been good for all of us,if we can handle the schedule till March! My family has been praying extra much for me and i do need it! Next on my to do list: our employee supper this week that was supposed to happen before Christmas only we went to the south! And Ellie is in need of glasses so we are waiting on those to come in,hopefully her lazy eye will straighten up. It showed up out of the blue one day . . . But her dad had bad eyes as a kid so no surprise on where it came from. I can' t believe our kids all escaped it except now her! It will be a challenge to keep glasses on her i'm afraid.

The pros of owning a bulk food store!

...trying out a Himalayan Pink Salt block from a customer! "would I carry this, please"? (Do I crush it or just pass it around the table?) :) .....i take all the produce home that get bumped and briused. Onions get chopped and frozen, which I love having on hand ,just don't like too many at a time! ....grabbing baking stuff off the shelves, including many items I normally wouldn't get, like mini m&m bits! Funny tho', my spices containers are emptier than ever, I forget to pick them up 'cause I don't have a grocery list anymore! ....farm fresh eggs from local farmers! ....i get to test out the latest kitchen gadgets, including the broken stuff! ....meat and cheese ends from the deli, they make wonderful snacks when having  friends over!

Kitchen Remodel...

This was the beginning of a terrible messy job of remodeling our kitchen. Norv and John Schlabach did the work of ripping off the ceiling and putting a new one on, insulating the new part (Samantha did that, crawling around up there) and then installing new cabinets. But before that could be done , they had to move the window, put drywall mud on the walls to cover up and blend together all the different wall coverings, rip out old cupboards, move the water lines for the dishwasher and new sink.... and this was all done in 5 days! This was open to the outside for a few days, so we stayed at Norv's folks while this was being done... see the original trailer roof shape? Here is the finished product! I got my curtains hung and the only thing missing is the microwave hood that may never be! I'd like to actually put a shelf in it's place. Looking toward the living room from the island...I love my shelf that just happened to appear after the ceiling got ripped off, the end

I’m Back!

I’ve been thinking the last few weeks of this poor forsaken blog, so I looked up the other day and it was actually 2012 that I quit. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then and our family has grown and there’s been lots of changes and a wedding and a daughter-in-law and grandbaby coming and now we’re having another wedding In a few weeks! Wow , you never know what will happen in six more years! I thought about trying to catch up over our lives the last few years, but most of you already know What all we’ve been up to so I’m not gonna try! I’m just going to start where we are now! This is going to be a year to remember for sure! 2018, Who would’ve thought, that we would be facing cancer, looking forward to being grandparents, having a 19-year-old daughter getting married, another daughter dating!  It’s almost mind-boggling, but I am reminded  that when I started this blog and I was a busy younger mother with six little kids, that I literally took one day at a time and
