aaahhhh, Sunday !

It's been a lovely weekend , had unexpected friends for lunch today and we had off work @ the store yesterday! Not to say we didn't work tho', seems there is never a time we are caught up in that ! I tell my girls to get used to it, and learn to enjoy it because they'll be doing this (some form ) the rest of their life ! They don't like hearing it :). I want to die with my work boots on if the Lord let's me ! I try to look @ the blessings in work even when I'm over my head in it ! It's easier to write this than actually feel this way all the time, ya know ! ....... Can u believe this summer is almost gone ! I was just planting my corn yesterday and now its ready to be chopped off ! And I didn't get my late crop of spinach, lettuce and other cool crops planted yet and I'm sure I'm too late now ! I feel sometimes with the life I have that I am always missing things, not getting stuff done that I want too ! I know my motto is ...one day

Heading Home...stopping in at Matt's

We were pushed for time on our way home, so we had to leave Indiana on Tuesday morning while the rest of my family spent another day there at my uncle's house and my mom and sisters went shopping in the famous shipshewana stores :( But we also wanted to go to the Creation Museum and this was the only way we had time to stop. Our family enjoyed that very much, esp. since Creation Ministeries was just our church and talked about a lot of the same stuff that was at the museum. Our favorite part was the show The Cosmos! Amazing facts, makes one feel pretty small! We have an amazing Creator... We got to use Matt and Amy as a motel of sorts, we made our selves at home and the girls had fun getting out of the suburban and playing with boy cousins that they don't see very often...i could have stolen that chubby little baby of theirs! Friday was spent baking for farmers market, i have to say it takes a certain amount of dedication to bake as much as Amy does! Every week, i'd get tir

Summertime Fun...reunion 2011

This summer started out with a bang..we headed to Indiana right after school was out and met my whole family there for two reunions with my amish relatives. Norv and the kids had never met them so it was high time to introduce them! Of course the highlight was spending Memorial Day @ my uncle Steve's house. He had a toy to make everybody happy! It was so hot and muggy and the fields were so wet because of so much rain they'd been having . There was even a mini tornado went through the night before this picture was taken,we missed it . We were about an hour away at the time. The whole Floyd Kauffman tribe.... This has been a favorite pastime for these two this year. They're trying to get Dusty trained for Samantha to be able to ride her. We seeded our pasture area this year, but as you can see it needs some help...Norv wants to plow it up and start over! I'm missing this kid o

Kitchen Remodel...

This was the beginning of a terrible messy job of remodeling our kitchen. Norv and John Schlabach did the work of ripping off the ceiling and putting a new one on, insulating the new part (Samantha did that, crawling around up there) and then installing new cabinets. But before that could be done , they had to move the window, put drywall mud on the walls to cover up and blend together all the different wall coverings, rip out old cupboards, move the water lines for the dishwasher and new sink.... and this was all done in 5 days! This was open to the outside for a few days, so we stayed at Norv's folks while this was being done... see the original trailer roof shape? Here is the finished product! I got my curtains hung and the only thing missing is the microwave hood that may never be! I'd like to actually put a shelf in it's place. Looking toward the living room from the island...I love my shelf that just happened to appear after the ceiling got ripped off, the end

One sore mama...

Oh my bones...my arms...I am so out of shape ! We worked outside tonite,Norv had the skid steer here,so he leveled dirt in the yard where a huge tree got chopped off last fall when we logged the pasture. I had him dump some goodies from the horse pen there and started a new flower bed and transplanted plants to it. We have had so very little really nice weather this year , and it was chilly out with the wind blowing, the sun was out and it was a beautiful evening ! We had a skiff of snow yesterday morning and the mountains got a fresh covering on em. I haven't even attempted to do anything in the garden, tho' I've been nagging at Norv to get the greenhouse up ! We started some plants inside and I've got some raspberry plants to get in the ground. My deer fence needs a lot of help, either the deer ripped it or the snow and wind did it, it needs fixing! We are finally done with our kitchen project...I'm loving it ! Norv just got the lights hooked up last night s
